Face Masks in Healthcare
Change to Covid Protocols
Withdrawal of Face Masks
From 16 May 2023 the Scottish Government is withdrawing guidance on the extended use of face masks and face coverings in hospitals, primary care and community healthcare settings.
Patients can of course still choose to continue to wear a face covering if they prefer to.
Additionally, following a clinical risk assessment, masks may also still be worn when:
- a patient is likely to have an infectious illness that might be mitigated by wearing a mask
- a clinician may have an infectious illness that they might pass on to a patient with a suppressed immune system
- a patient expresses significant concern that they are at risk and wish the clinician to wear a mask
Do not attend the practice if you have cold or flu symptoms.
